Economist and lawyer · Universidad de los Andes
I am an economist and lawyer working on credit regulation, financial intermediation and macroprudential policy. My research asks how the rules that govern the price of credit — and the structure of the banking system that supplies it — shape who gets a loan and how monetary policy travels through the financial system in emerging economies.
I am completing an MA in Economics at Universidad de los Andes, where I also hold a teaching appointment in the Department of Economics. I hold undergraduate degrees in Economics and Law from the same university, with minors in Mathematics and French. I am a Colombian–American economist based in Bogotá.
I lead the research agenda at Colombia Fintech, the industry association of Colombia's fintech sector, where I design the studies that produce the sector's reference statistics on digital lending, payments and financial inclusion, and build the empirical case behind regulatory proposals.
